Rather than hitting the gym sleepy, nutritionist Priya Kathpal advocates consuming these drinks before a workout to feel more energetic and focused. What’s more, these drinks will boost your metabolism and aid weight loss.
Coffee or green tea: Drinking a cup of coffee or green tea an hour before a workout can be an excellent way to boost your energy. The caffeine in these drinks will readily convert the fat into energy so that you can exercise for longer. The caffeine can also help delay the onset of post-workout muscle soreness.
Green juice: Rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients a homemade green juice can just be perfect on your way to the gym. Blend in a mixer some celery, spinach, and bottle gourd for that added energy boost. Spinach can be excellent to promote weight loss.
Cranberry and lemon juice: You are going to love the tart of cranberry before a workout. To get that energy boost sans caffeine combine equal parts of cranberry and lemon juice. Cranberries have high fibre content and are high in antioxidants that can help promote fat loss.
Lassi: Drinking a glass of lassi can help you get ready for a long run. Yogurt is easy on your stomach, and the protein can give you that little rev your body needs before a workout. You can also add some nuts or flax seeds to your lassi to keep your insulin levels from dropping mid-workout.
Banana and date smoothie: For an energy-boosting snack on the go you can stick to a banana and date smoothie. Bananas can be perfect to maintain your potassium levels which can drop when you sweat a lot. Simply blend 3-4 deseeded dates and 1 peeled to get a smooth consistency. You can also add milk if you want a thin consistency.
