After a long day’s work when you need some energy for your evening workout eating a banana can be a good choice as it can be easily digested. But you can’t always keep the bananas lying on your desk, your car or your gym bag. You can, however, easily pick up a packet of banana chips but the store-bought ones are surely not the healthiest choice. You can prepare your own healthy version of banana chips at home minus the dough and added sugars. We got you a recipe from nutritionist Anuradha Shekhar.

In this recipe, the bananas are seasoned with cinnamon to satiate your sweet tooth and are so crunchy that it will have you devour the entire batch of banana chips. You do not have to worry about the calories as half a batch will not contain more than 150 calories. They also contain a good amount of fibre so if you are watching your weight, they can be a great snack option.

You will need:

  • 4 medium sized ripe bananas
  • Juice from one large lemon or 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • Cinnamon powder

Method:

  • Preheat your oven at 200 degree Fahrenheit and line your baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Peel the bananas and cut them into ¼ inch sizes and dip each slice into the orange or lemon juice.
  • Then place the banana slices on the pan and sprinkle with cinnamon powder.
  • Bake for around 2 hours unless the chips are crisp, dry and slightly brown. Also, make sure that you flip the banana slices in the oven when you are half way through.
  • Remove the chips from the oven and once they cool, you can store them in air-tight containers.

You can actually prepare a double batch of banana chips so that you can store them in your gym bag and your desk drawer at the office. Also, try this Gujarati yam bake by chef Ranveer Brar.
